Anyone that knows me knows that I’m a planner and I love to travel. I make itineraries for trips I take with friends, map out how to walk to different fun spots around a city and plan out day trips to make sure I’m hitting all the best sites.
When planning a trip for a group of friends recently, I found myself a bit stuck. When I was looking into restaurant options and activities it seemed that everything on Trip Advisor was a bit too touristy and Yelp was just full of angry people. It was hard to know where to start.
Over the years, I’ve come to realize that my favorite and most fulfilling trips are ones where I visit a friend in “their city” or get recommendations ahead of time from someone who has spent a lot of time in the desired destination. Local expertise makes all the difference. Locals know their city— their favorite spots, their hidden treasures, and tourist stops actually worth visiting.
Knowing someone in every new city you visit is not always the case, so that’s why I started this. I asked friends, “if I was going to visit for a long weekend, what would we do?” And I went from there. By combining my trip planning skills with local knowledge, I hope to create city guides to help lead you around a new city or serve as a jumping-off place when you plan an adventure.
Thanks in advance to everyone that’s helped me pull this little project together. Happy traveling (:
